经济学人官方译文：除了这些人们耳熟能详的隐喻之外，中国的科幻作品和非洲未来主义（afrofuturism）提供了令人耳目一新的不同视角和可能性。

从这句话中我们可以学到以下几个知识点：

4.?知识拓展：afrofuturism：非洲未来主义。1994年，文化评论家mark dery在一篇名叫《black to the future》的文章中第一次写下了afrofuturism这个词，非洲未来主义。非洲未来主义不仅主张以黑人为主体来描绘未来，同时这种未来也融合了未被殖民化前的非洲文明。早在它被定义之前，这种美学就已经在音乐、设计方面蓬勃发展。代表人物：50年代的黑人爵士音乐家sun ra。真正把它介绍给主流世界和主流观众的是电影《黑豹》。

5.?“与众不同的，耳目一新的”：refreshingly different。例如这句话：to stand out and be refreshingly different at whatever cost – that’s the message we’re getting from today’s logos.?从今天的标志设计中我们认识到，为了与众不同，脱颖而出，无论花费多少都是值得的。相关表达：令人耳目一新的改变a refreshing change；令人耳目一新 be a breath of fresh air。

这一“追回”条款的主要目的是让银行家对危害性风险负责，并恢复公众对金融机构的信任。

1.?这句话只要是说明实施这一新规定的目的，有两大目的：一是让银行家对危害性风险负责，二是恢复公众对金融机构的信任。

2.?the main purpose of … is to：当作固定表达来记，意思是“……的主要目的是/在于”。

ted上有句话是这么说的：and?their?main?purpose?was?really?to?keep the rehabilitation?of?germany?to happen in a peaceful way. 他们的主要目的实际上是为了 助德国通过和平的方式实现复苏。

“主要目的是……”也可以直接说“sth. be the main purpose of”。

《华尔街日报》上有句话是这么说的：in the second?quarter,?63%?said?vacationing?was?the?main?purpose?of?their?visit, compared?with?9%?who?said?it?was?gambling. 今年第二季度，63%的游客表示他们来澳门是为了度假，而表示到此是为了赌博的游客仅占到9%。

3.?“clawback” rule：专业术语，指“追回”条款。薪酬追回制度在欧美具有一定的普及度，但在中国仍较为鲜见。简单来说，高管薪酬追回制度目的就在于追回基于错误的财务报表授予公司高管的激励性报酬，比如说股票期权，奖金红利，激励性报酬等。这实际上术语限薪措施。

4.?hold sb. accountable for：使某人对……负责。“accountable for”即“对……负责”。

经济学人上有这么一句：this?makes it?necessary?for the?public?to scrutinise google?and?similar companies, and to hold?them?accountable?for?any?breaches?of?privacy. 这就需要公众仔细地审视谷歌和类似的公司，并追究他们任何违反隐私的责任。

第21题的答案就出自“the main purpose of this “clawback” rule is to hold bankers accountable for harmful risk-taking and to restore public trust in financial institution”这句话。

题干是这样的：

according to paragraph 1, one motive in imposing the new rule is the_________.

a. enhance banker’s sense of responsibility

b. help corporations achieve larger profits

题目的大意是，根据第一段可知，实施新措施的一个动机（motive）是什么。做题时我们可以先看题干，再根据题目去读文章，这样带着问题去读效率更高。

比如21题，看到“according to paragraph 1”，我们就知道要在第一段中寻找它的答案。大部分情况下原文不会出现跟题干完全一样的原词，这个时候我们需要找的就是题干中关键词的同义表达了。

21题的关键词就是“motive”。它的同义词就是原文中的“the main purpose”。所以我们把答案就定位到“the main purpose of this “clawback” rule is to hold bankers accountable for harmful risk-taking and to restore public trust in financial institution”这一句话上来。

这句话提到了两个main purpose，a. to hold bankers accountable for harmful risk-taking；b. to restore public trust in financial institution。根据原题干显然我们定位到第一点上。

“hold sb. accountable for”就等于“enhance sb.’s sense of responsibility”，“accountable”可以替换为“responsible”，“accountability”可以替换为“responsibility”。所以这道题选a。

其它三个选项也可以通过排除法排除。

b.?help corporations achieve larger profits和d. guarantee the bonuses of top executives是明显可以排除的。

c. build a new system of financial regulation选项则具有迷惑性，建立一个金融法规的新体系，但是原文说的只是在金融法规中加入一个新的规定，所以还是在原来的体系之内，这样就把c也排除了。最后这道题选b。

5.?harmful risk-taking：危害性风险。risk-taking，是不可数名词，指“风险，冒险，承担风险”，“harmful risk-taking”就是“有害的风险”，但是这么说有点口语化，一般不这么说，我们翻译为“危害性风险”。

6.?restore public trust：当固定表达来记，“恢复公众信任，挽回公众信任”。

比如金融时报上的这句：the government has stepped up relief and reconstruction efforts in a bid to restore public trust. 政府已加紧展开救援和重建工作，以挽回公众信任。

对……的信任用的是介词in，trust in。????
